CMFNL – Winning ways return

KOONDROOK/BARHAM featured in what will shape to be one of the upset wins of the season at the weekend.

The Raiders became Balranald’s first scalp since round 16, 2015, going down by five points.

The result ended Balranald’s run of  21 consecutive losses.

The ‘Roos held an 18-point lead going into three-quarter time – the largest margin of the match to that point – but could only manage one behind in the final 25 minutes of the match.

Dean Limbach kicked six of the Raiders’ 12 goals of the game.

The win moved Balranald to ninth on the ladder, equal with Swan Hill, Nyah-Nyah West United and the Raiders with one win so far in 2016.

The district’s other two local sides continued their unbeaten run so far in season 2017.

The Cohuna Kangas held on for a two-point win against Swan Hill in a match that saw the Kangas fight back from a four-point deficit at the main break.

Harrison Keely kicked four goals for the hosts, who next play on May 20 in a potential top of the table clash against Kerang.

The Blues also chalked up a win, defeating Lake Boga by 56 points.

Luke Cotchett kicked five goals for the Blues, who restricted the Magpies to three goals after quarter time.
