CMFNL – Tigers to meet Blues

WOORINEN booked a Central Murray Football Netball League second semi-final showdown with five-time defending premiers, Kerang this weekend following a 68-point qualifying final win against the Mallee Eagles.

Led by four-goal efforts from Lachlan Gardiner and Victor Siciliano, the Tigers kept the Eagles scoreless in the opening term.

Although the Eagles were able to reduce the 40-point quarter time deficit to 29 points by the main break, the Lalbert-bases side was not able to get any closer in the match as Woorinen kicked three goals to one in the third stanza and six goals to three in the final 30 minutes of the match.

The Eagles will play Swan Hill in this weekend’s first semi-final after the Swans defeated Nyah-Nyah West United by 13 points in Sunday’s elimination final.

In a seesawing affair, a five-goal to one second quarter turned saw last season’s grand finalists hold sway at the main break, before the Swans kicked six goals to one in the third quarter to take control of the match.

Xavier Moloney finished with three goals for the Swans, with Joel Campbell (three goals) leading the way for the Demons.
