KERANG is hoping an investigation into an incident that left premiership player, Bronson Booth with a broken jaw is dealt with before the grand final on September 16.
Booth and a Woorinen player made contact at the five-minute mark of the opening term in last Saturday’s Central Murray Football Netball League second semi-final.
The league’s official footage from the game does not show the incident, but its match review panel has initiated an investigation into the matter.
The Blues want the matter to be dealt with before the grand final, with Woorinen to be the club’s opponent if the Tigers defeat Swan Hill in tomorrow’s preliminary final.
“We are unhappy with what has happened. The rules are there to protect players’ head, so this matter needs to be dealt with before the grand final,” Kerang president, Rob Fisher said.
‘We are not having a go at Woorinen or the player alleged. Purely from a football perspective, this this matter needs to be dealt with before the grand final.”
Kerang has obtained independent footage of the incident, which the club unsuccessfully tried to pass onto the league for the match review panel to consider.
However, league chairman, John Brookshaw said the video – which is already accessible online – can be used by the investigating officer to assist with the matter.
“Kerang did appeal for the Match Review Panel to see the footage it has provided, but AFL rules on these matters are quite clear – only the Match Review Panel football can be used,” he said.
