WOORINEN forward, Doug Palmer will face the Central Murray Football Netball League tribunal as soon as it can convene following an investigation into an incident during the second semi-final.

Palmer faces two charges of unbecoming conduct following a two-week investigation into an off-the-ball incident with Kerang’s Bronson Booth.

Independent investigating officer, Oscar Aertssen recommended that Palmer faces the tribunal in relation to “engaging in rough conduct” against Booth “which in the circumstances is unreasonable” and that Palmer made “unreasonable or unnecessary contact” to Booth’s face.

The incident, which occurred at the five-minute mark of the first quarter of Kerang’s 14-point second semi-final win against the Tigers, left Booth with a broken jaw.

“The Board of the CMFNL have seen the evidence and concur with the recommendation of the investigating officer and have asked the AFL Central Murray operations manager of the Regional Administration Centre to convene our independent tribunal as soon as possible to hear these charges,” league chairman, John Brookshaw said.

The CMFNL initiated the investigation after official match footage did not capture the incident.

However, Kerang management obtained its own footage of the alleged incident, but failed for the material to be used to initiate a tribunal hearing prior to September 16’s grand final.

Both sets of footage will be used by the tribunal as evidence, as well as testimony from Palmer, Booth and three Woorinen witnesses.
