Country test

SOME of the region’s top junior cricketers will take to the field at local venues from today.

The Northern District Cricket Association will host the under 15 and under 17 Junior Country Week competitions – the first time it has been held locally in more than a decade.

Teams representing the Robinvale-based Central Region, as well as the Swan Hill District and Sunraysia cricket associations will take on the hosts in a round-robin format, with each match consisting 50-over innings.

Northern District’s first match in the under 17 competition will be against Swan Hill District at Koondrook, with defending premiers, Sunraysia playing Central Region at Cohuna.

In the under 15s, defending premiers, Sunraysia will open its campaign against Central Region at Cohuna, with Northern District taking on Swan Hill District at Riverside Park, Kerang.

The winning association is determined by points gained for each win, with percentage factored in if teams share the same record following the completion of action on Thursday.

All matches will begin at 10am and are scheduled to finish at 5pm.
