105th show starts tonight

THE first of the district’s agricultural shows for the year will attract a large crowd to the Cohuna recreation reserve tonight and tomorrow.

Final touches will be made to attractions this morning in readiness for the 105th annual Cohuna Show.

Cohuna and District Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society organisers have been inundated with entries for the two-day event, with good numbers for the pavilion section – which include arts, craft, baking, photography and produce items.

The pavilion will be one of the highlights to occur across both days, with gates opening at 4pm today.

Sideshow Alley and its various rides will be operating throughout the evening, whilst the judging of the Cohuna Show Teenager and subsequent categories will draw a crowd from 7pm.

Other attractions occurring during the opening day of the show include the Cohuna Kangas Football Netball Club barbecue, face painting, trading stalls and a fireworks show at 9.30pm.

Traditional show attractions will occur tomorrow from 9.30am, including dairy cattle judging, poultry competitions and equine sections.

An exhibition featuring entries for April 14’s Australian Boer Goats Show will also be a highlight.

However, tomorrow’s predicted above-average temperatures have forced organisers of the dog show that coincides with the agricultural show to only proceed with this afternoon and tonight’s schedule of events.
