ALMOST 400 works of art will be on show at Kerang at Easter.
The 16th annual Rotary Club of Kerang Art Show has attracted entries from around Victoria and southern New South Wales for the three-day show at the Riverside Park stadium.
Paintings, drawings, mixed mediums, photography and a variety of displays will be featured when the show opens on Good Friday and continues over the next two days.
Entries will be under the scrutiny of Werribee-based artist and art tutor, Janet Knight, who will provide a selection of her works for exhibition and sale.
Ms Knight has been a professional artist for the past 25 years. She operates her own studio and describes her current works are a testament to her ever evolving passion for her art. She is an accomplished, award winning artist in watercolors, pastels, acrylics and oils.
She has also been teaching art classes full time for over 18 years from her studio.
A youth section will involve an encouragement award presented in memory of former local artist, Yvette Brimacombe.
The art show will also feature a number of exhibitions.
Cohuna commercial photographer, Shayne Mostyn has been acclaimed for his astrophotography and he teaches people how to get the best out of mobile phone cameras.
A selection of news pictures from the Gannawarra Times, including some award-winning news photographs will also be on show.
Tragowel farmer, Mick Shepard and his daughter, Tiarna, will present a selection of their farm sculptures, made from all sorts of materials, and Kerang resident, Catherine Rosewall will display some exquisite needlework.
Local children’s author, Bob Heddle will have his latest book on sale at the show.
Art show co-ordinator, Annette Kelly said that an innovation this year is the local art people’s choice award. Art submitted by district artists will be marked with a gold coloured label and patrons will be invited to vote for their favourite.
Gannawarra deputy mayor, Cr Lorraine Learmonth will select one entry as the shire’s acquisition award.
The show will open from 7pm on Friday with the entry fee including a program, supper and beverages.
It will be officially opened by Rotary District Governor, Ray Herbert, of Mt Gambier.
The show will continue at the Maxwell Street stadium on Saturday between 10am and 6pm and again on Sunday between 10am and 3pm.
