Ready for a classic day

A CELEBRATION of classic vehicles will occur on Sunday, all in aid for the development of a new community space.

The Kerang and District Agricultural Society, Kerang and District Progress Association, Kerang and District Vintage Motor Club and Alexandra Park trustees have united to run the third annual Kerang Show and Shine.

Following on from last year’s event being held at Atkinson Park, around 200 vehicles will be on display during the day, all in the running to win a number of prizes including the grand award of a $500 travel voucher.

“We have 100 vehicles already booked in, but people wishing to enter do not have to book in. They can just turn up on the day,” event organising committee member, John Poole said.

A number of other attractions will occur throughout the day, all set to cater for the interests of those in attendance.

Indian motorcycle enthusiasts from Bendigo are bringing four vehicles to the town for the day, with spots to ride on one of the American-manufactured machines filling fast.

Motor racing fans will also be able to get up close to four cars that form part of the Peter Brock collection.

“These cars have been on display at Bathurst, but have not been up this way before,” Mr Poole said.

All proceeds from the day will go towards the construction of a multipurpose venue at Alexandra Park.

“We have received indication the proposal is achievable, but there is still quite a bit of work to do to make it a reality,” Mr Poole said.

Festivities will run from 9am to 3pm, with judging occurring between 10am to 12 noon in readiness for the awarding of prizes at 1.30pm.
