ENGINES roared and people turned out in droves for the third annual Kerang Show and Shine.
Held at Atkinson Park on Sunday, the day was a hit with a display from the Peter Brock racing car collection drawing major crowds.
Multiple cars driven by the racing legend were on display including his first car, which he built at age 13.
The chance to test drive an Indian Motorcycle was also a popular feature with those who prefer their transport on two wheels instead of four.
Show and Shine Committee president, Mark Arians said attendance numbers were well above previous years, with approximately 200 vehicles on display.
“The quality of the vehicles has been sensational. Brock has been a major draw card,” he said.
Choosing a winner for each category proved to be a challenge with so many stellar vehicles in the running, and one category even yielded a draw.
“It’s been hard to pick winners because the quality is so good – we had real trouble splitting it,” committee member, Kelvin Burt said.
The draw was for the Classic ’60s category, which went to David Nolte’s 1964 Ford Falcon and Frank and Dianne Hughes’ 1969 Holden Monaro.
The event was first held in 2016 as a way to raise funds for the development of a new multi-purpose sporting complex in Kerang.
However, even if fundraising aims are met, the event has grown to such an extent that the Show and Shine Committee said they will continue to run it regardless.
“This event here is growing and has the potential to become something big,” Mr Arians said.
Mr Burt agreed.
“We won’t stop it. We hoped it would keep growing,” he said.
