BLACK Duck Jackpot 2 Bowl Triples played last Tuesday, 18 bowlers played in good conditions.
Two game winners were J. Jackson, K. Pay and W. Neville on +7. Second game winners were S. Pascoe, K. Strachan and D. King on +12.
Jackpot number drawn was +23 and was not claimed. Jackpot next week goes up to $120.
To play Black Duck call the club on 5452 1194 by 11am for a 12.30pm start, or preferably, have your name down on the list on the notice board by the day before.
Nomination forms for committee positions are on the notice board. If you would like to have a say in how the club is run, fill one in and hand it to the secretary.
Congratulations to Kane Wilson for winning the U18 singles title for our region and is now playing in the state finals. Good luck, and good bowling Kane. Your club is proud of you.

Kerang Golf
CONGRATULATIONS to all members who have played their matches in the various club championships, over the last week or so. With the end of daylight saving, most of these finals were completed under lights. All club matches are now completed and presentation day can be organised – well done to all.
Last Tuesday, the men’s fours was completed with the Ronnie McKerrow rink, consisting of Jim McLeish, Peter Niall and Rob “Curly” Curtis winning from Frank Boxshall, Rob Fisher, Mick Pors and Jeff Anderson (sub for Gary Borg). The final score was 15/9, in a tight game. Speaking of our president – we hope you have a speedy recovery from your injury. On Wednesday afternoon, Jeff Anderson proved too steady for “Curly” Curtis, winning the B Grade Singles 21/17, after being down 17/14, Jeff won the last 5 ends on the trot to become the B Grade Champion and promotion to A Grade next year. Later that evening the men’s pairs was completed with the 2020/21 winners, Graeme Hayes and Lloyd Murray playing against Andy Jeffs and Frank Ritchie. Last year an extra end was played to find a winner between these two combinations and this year’s event was as close, with scores level late in the game. Andy and Frank got off to a great start, only to be pegged back and overtaken, with Graeme and Lloyd leading by seven shots with five ends to play. A fight back on shorter ends saw scores level after 16 ends. However, last year’s runners-up won the last two ends to become Men’s Pairs Champions for 21/22. Congratulations to Andy and Frank – this is their fourth win in five years.
On Thursday, the 100 Up finals were completed. In the ladies’ section, Marlene Orr was too strong for Lorraine Douglass and Howard McClelland won his third Lindsay Stewart Memorial Trophy for Men’s 100 Up against Jim McLeish.
Thursday bowls was played with 12 participants and 2-4-2 pairs was the game. Winners were Jeff Anderson and Rob Malseed with two wins and 16 shots up, from runners-up, Bryce McLeish and Marlene Rawson with two wins and 10 shots up. Encouragement chocolates to Dale Spinks and Trevor Burmeister.
The annual trip away was held on the weekend, with 25 members and partners heading to Deniliquin. Remembering that what happens on trips away stays on the trip away. However, there will surely be some reports about unusual happenings – watch this space.

Cohuna Golf
WITH our annual meeting over, Cohuna Golf Bowls sees the election of a new president in Graeme (Tucker) Peace, with Pat Quinn stepping down after three years at the helm.
A vote of thanks was lodged in recognition of the sterling leadership given by Pat, with his rewards being an ever-expanding, harmonious club, blessed with continued pennant successes.
Tucker heads a capacity board, which includes vice-president Irene Trezise, secretary Yvonne Eckhardt, treasurer Mick Carmody and directors Pat Quinn, Rod Fletcher, Cheryle Baker, Jean Sutherland, Barb Evans and John Keely.
Mixed opinions were aired about the proposed Premier League reorganisation, with members reminded to lodge their vote post-haste. Other items of interest were the plan to reorganise the shelters between A and B greens, the great benefits flowing from the new outdoor area and the mutual support between us and Gunbower Bowling Club.
Back at club level the ladies enjoyed a wind-free Tuesday for triples, with this week’s winners being Rhonda, Val and Lucy. This competition will wind up with afternoon tea this week, but of course greens will be open for a roll as long as the weather holds.
On Wednesday night several members acccepted an invitation to be part of Gunbower’s presentation night, and were thrilled to see Bernie Mawson win the Gunny Golfers third division best player award. Others to vote well included John Prout and Lee Nightingall. Thanks Gunbower for your wonderful hospitality.
On Thursday we staged the final day of the jackpot pairs, with a good crowd seeking the poultry or the cash. Coming in to win with a near record score of two wins plus 24 was the Mike Henshaw-Brian McLoughlan pairing, whilst Len Mathers and Wayne Cowan took home the repecharge poultry.
After a great barbecue for afternoon tea, we began the jackpot countdown, and after only seven attempts Pat Quinn’s and Lee Nightingall’s plus 16 token was drawn out. Thanks to all who supported this event, which will recommence in September.
Next Thursday the pie and soup triples commences, Cohuna being the first venue. Names to Peter or alternatively straight to Keith Foreman.
I believe to all our members representing the Cohuna RSL at Barooga over weekend had a great time, and although our lady reps at the Echuca Carnival didn’t strike gold, they had a most enjoyable few days away as well. Four players from our club also represented Murray-Mallee at the State Regionals, and acquitted themselves admirably against very strong opposition.
A big shoutout to life member Lorna who isn’t enjoying the best of health at present. The club’s best wishes will hopefully help encourage a speedy recovery.
Don’t forget the Kerang Easter Tournament if you want a bit more bowls, with a Star component on Monday, April 18.
Quambatook
The Club Pairs were played on the weekend.
The final was played between Trevor Burmeister and Billy King against Chris Manners and Cliff Wood. Trevor and Billy got away to a good start but by the halfway mark the match had evened up and with one end to play they led by just two shots. Trevor and Billy picked up four shots on the last end to record a 23/17 victory.
Presentation day will be held on Sunday, April 24 from 12pm with a barbecue lunch, a game of social bowls and presentation of trophies.
