Cohuna Golf
As bowls activities begin to wind down, so proportionately do the length of our notes. The annual exodus up north has begun, but many of our regular travellers have to mark time until we complete our state pennant obligations in late May.
Our ladies wound up a very successful social season with bowls and afternoon tea last Tuesday. Winners on the day were Rhonda, Margot and Moss although with our new, keen members and terrific attendances we were all winners. Looking forward to next season already.
We had a couple of sides over to Pyramid for their “How much can you eat?” tournament with the Carmody brothers, Ian Coates and Marie Scott handling conditions well enough to win. Others have attended Kerang’s Easter event with mixed successes although enjoying the greens and the sunshine.
The Pie and Soup triples attracted a good-sized field, so much so that this week’s venue has been moved to Gunbower as Leitchville has only one green. We are playing on Thursdays from now on, please note the change here as well.
Events on the horizon include Kerang Golf’s Anzac Day Triples, and a fours tournament back at Pyramid on May 1st. Keep the practice up, May 20 isn’t that far away.
Lalbert
On Sunday, April 10 the Lalbert Golf Club held its 2022 Season opening round, with a Par 3 event and a barbecue tea at the day’s end. In the Ladies, Karen McKissack took out the Scratch with a 72, runner up was Danika Meehan with 74. Danika won the handicap with a nett 50.75.
The Men’s Scratch, James Meehan (Sen) won with 59 from Glen McKissack on 61. The handicap winner was Dean Alexander with a nett 52.25 from Peter Harley on 52.75.
In the 9 Hole Juniors Dakota Meehan won with 39 from Blake Shepherd on 42. The NTP was won by Dave Doolan.
