TWENTY-four bowlers played Black Duck Jackpot 2 Bowls Triples on Tuesday, May 3, in cool conditions.

Two-game winners were G. Teasdale, B. Theobald and A. Davies on +15. Second-game wins were shared by J. Jackson, T. Nolan and C. Adams and M. Credlin, M. Fowler and P. Basile on +9.

The jackpot number drawn was -7 (not claimed). Jackpot this week goes up to $192.

To play Black Duck, call the club on 5452 1194 by 11am for a 12.30 start, or, preferably, have your name down on the list on the noticeboard by the day before.

Our annual all-abilities bowling sessions will start on May 12. Anyone interested in helping please contact Gayle Teasdale.

Congratulations to Kevin Teasdale and Barbara Williams on receiving their trophies at our presentation night for our club singles championships recently. They are truly worthy recipients as many close games were involved.

Well done to our midweek Division 1 and 2 bowlers, who were officially presented with the pennant flag and a team photo. A great effort by both teams.

Special mention to Tunna for his medallion recognising 50 years membership and an estimated 1000 games of Saturday and Midweek pennant for the club. An achievement which will probably never be repeated.

Our thoughts at this time are of “Buddha”, who is in hospital. Joe said at our presentation night that she had called him that night and he was feeling much better. Let’s hope he returns to the club very soon.

Members elected to a position at the club at our AGM were: President – Damien (Buddha) Murray. Vice-president – Ross Frantz. Secretary – Kevin Teasdale. General committee – Barry Theobald, Marshall Rosewall, Alyne Fagg, David Randell, Allan Davies, Don Monaghan. Match committee – Marshall Rosewall, George Fenton, Ian (Tunna) Roberts, Merv Tilley. Delegates – Damien Murray and Kevin Teasdale. Pennant selectors – Maurie Credlin, Rod Pascoe, Lindsay Hein, Don Monaghan and Damien Murray. Press correspondent – Merv Tilley. Greens director – Ian (Stacker) Hastie.

Congratulations to all members who accepted a position to drive the club for the next year.

A special vote of thanks and appreciation was extended to Alyne Fagg for all his hard work over the past few years. Alyne has been the heart and soul of our club and he deserved to be recognised and congratulated for his hard work.

COOLER conditions seemed to have arrived with the temperature being a bit lower this week for our Thursday bowls. However we had a good complement of bowlers with a caravanning couple, Les and Maya, from Bairnsdale joining us for the second game.

Rob “Curly” Curtis and Allison Medson had two wins and 13 shots up, to be the winners on the day, just in front of Mick Pors and Trevor Burmeister, joined by Les, to be the runners-up with two wins as well and 10 shots up. The “encouragement” award went to Jim and Sonia McLeish with losses in both games. Maya joined them in the second game, so she received an award as well.

The club was well represented at the Pyramid Hill Seafood Day last Sunday, but none were able to get in the prize-winners. Thanks to all who support local tournaments, as this helps to encourage members of neighbouring clubs to come to play in events at our club.

Our second day of Sunday bowls was a “Scroungers” day and Laurie Gray was the winner in a play-off against the “in-form” Stuart Robinson. Well done to all who participated.

Numbers will be swelled next week as the Demons (who were at the MCG singing the song again) will be in attendance as their team travels to Western Australia for a game against West Coast. Members and visitors are reminded that Social Bowls is held each Thursday and Sunday, with a 12.45 pm registration, for a 1pm start. Everyone will be made most welcome.
