Across the Greens – Kerang Golf

Kerang Golf

THE summer heat has arrived and most bowling activities have ceased for the short term.

With a forecast of 40 degrees, the Saturday pennant was called off, on Thursday night, with the temperature forecast to reach 40 degrees.

Our Terry White Triples was postponed earlier in the week.

This tournament will now be played on Thursday, February 16 – we will be looking for entries again when the time gets closer.

With this break in normal competition, a few early morning starts has seen some club matches completed.

Well done to those who have completed their matches.

A reminder to all in the Men’s B Grade Singles and Championship Pairs, that matches need to be completed by the due dates, or the match committee will make the decision for you.

There are four matches to be played in the B Grade Singles and these must be played by Sunday, January 22.

The Midweek team travelled to Cohuna Golf last Wednesday, and returned as winners, with the overall score, 40/34.

Joyce Tuohey skipped her team to a 4 shot win and Lorraine Ritchie’s rink won by 2 shots.

Now equal to with Barham 2 on top of the ladder, a finals berth is in the offing, well done.

The team for tomorrow is Judy McKerrow, Joyce Tuohey, Rosie Laughlin and Lorraine Douglass.

Team 2 is Lorraine Ritchie, Sonia McLeish, Marlene Rawson and Allison Medson.

Allison and Lorraine played in the Murray Mallee Round Robin series on Sunday and were part of the winning Ladies team.

The Men’s team was defeated by Murray Valley in the last game, which was the grand final.

A team went Cohuna’s Star Day on Sunday and were rewarded with the runners-up prize, only beaten on a countback.

Well done to Andy Jeffs, Frank Ritchie, Brett Hipworth and Aldo.

Not long now until our Greenwood Australia Day Triples, sponsored by Arnoldt and Greenwood Pty Ltd.

The famous Lamb Burgers will be available from midday, with bowls to commence at 12.30pm.

Get your entries to Aldo (0407 310 762) or Frank Ritchie (0409 439 029) if you want to enter a team or individually.

Also, there is an entry sheet on the noticeboard.

It is planned to have another Royal night soon, so watch this space for more details.

Also, the annual end of season trip away is being planned for some-time in late April.

Suggestions are welcome, so contact Jimmy if you have a great place to visit.

The finals of the respective Club Championships will be played this coming Friday.

The Ladies will be played in the morning – maybe about a 10am start between Lorraine Ritchie and Carol Pay, and the Men in the afternoon at 4pm between Frank Ritchie and Howard McClelland.

Spectators are most welcome to come and watch both events.
