Across the Greens – Cohuna Bowls

THERE were some super-excited players in the winning team this week. It was a first ever win for Lynda and a first skipping job for Rodney. They obviously combined very well with Marian to have a great day.

Well done to all three.

It was a nail-biting finish to the Midweek Pennant preliminary final. First finished was Rick’s team, at which stage we were two shots down overall with a couple of ends to play. Brian Bowles’ rink were the heroes on the day. The other two rinks battled hard all day to keep in touch. Final result Cohuna 60/8 d Cohuna Golf 57/4.

The grand final is at Cohuna Golf Club this week and we play Kerang. Best of luck to all players. Thank you again to supporters who came along to cheer us on. Hope to see you all there again this week. Everyone is invited back to the clubhouse after the game.

It’s been 43 years between Saturday Pennant drinks, but what a thirst-quencher. It was a tight game all day, and the supporters were there in numbers to give their support. At 15 shots down you could hear a pin drop, but our guys and gal just kept their nerve and came home under steam. With two teams up all eyes were on Rick’s rink. At the second-last end Rick got a three to make it four for the draw or five to win, a near-impossible feat for Cohuna Golf. This match was played in great spirit and well done to Cohuna Golf. Final scores were Cohuna 55/10 d Cohuna Golf 53/2. Still plenty of celebrating to come.

This column said the presentation night would be April 15. Please alter the calendar as it is April 29 (just seeing how many were on the ball).

Nomination forms should now be available, so give some serious thought to taking up a position. See a committee member with any questions.

For Tuesday bowls, names should be in by 9.15am.
