Across the Greens – Cohuna Golf

A BIG week for a large group of members who took part in the Country Week bowls in Bendigo.

Ron, Mick and Colin all won their sections in the pairs, but were knocked out early in subsequent play, while Peter, Ron, Frank and Phil got right through to the last eight in the fours.

Sunday was the Gunbower Star day, where Gunny Golfer Laurie Forde steered the winning team, with a composite side including Mick Carmody runner-up.

This week the Swan Hill Racecourse Classic takes up Tuesday and Wednesday, while President Tucker is taking a team to Avoca on Sunday to represent us in the Waverly Shield, a long-standing event restricted to golf bowling clubs only. At the same time a large group is entered at Cohuna in support of their big weekend. Hopefully some more good results to pass on to our members.

Don’t forget to make up your triples for the pie and soup series, which commence at Leitchville on April 13. First 14 teams will be those who get a game.

The ladies continued on Tuesday, with their season finishing on April 4. This week they played triples, the winners were Glenda, Val and Cheryle.

April 4 is also the date of our annual meeting, please make a point of attending as it is an opportunity to share current and future plans of the club first hand. Starting time is 7.30pm.
