ACCORDING to all who went to the Deniliquin tournament a ripping good time was had; 24 players really enjoyed the bowls and the socialising was in full swing.
On the Saturday Mike Hoffman, Ian Howard and Rodney Bannister won their section and just went down in the playoff.
By Monday everyone was a little tired but Rick Parr, Marj Mooney and Bill Ainger found a second gear and won “highest winning margin” on their last game and collected some dollars.
A big thank you to Dallas who did a superb job in organising the weekend. All players and partners had the best time and look forward to next year.
It was great to read Anne Prendergast’s reminisces on Facebook of the fabulous times enjoyed at Deniliquin and Hay by past Cohuna Bowls members. The tradition continues.
Just 13 players braved the cool, windy conditions on Tuesday but the rain held off.
Winners on the day were Pat, Noelene and Joe and it’s great to see our visitors doing well.
Thanks to Keith who rolled the green; many members do a lot behind the scenes to ensure great greens and smooth running of a day’s bowls, and their efforts are appreciated.
Last Friday night’s tea was popular and the chicken schnitzels were cooked to perfection as usual.
Richard and Dallas were the winners of the carpet bowls which followed.
Saturday’s social bowls attracted 34 players. It’s so good to see so many wanting a game of bowls during a sunny winter afternoon.
The greens were fast but Wayne, Val and Bill didn’t find that a problem as they were the day’s winners. A big jackpot is up for grabs next week as it didn’t go off on Saturday, guaranteeing a good roll up next week.
