Hancock leads Kerang upset

IN the upset of the season, Kerang has beaten the previously undefeated Cohuna Golf.

In a fairly even match-up against the two sides, Kerang was able to just get over the top, with Dale Hancock’s rink being the key difference, as they had 31 shots in total while Rodney Fletcher’s Cohuna Golf rink had 20 shots.

Overall, Kerang had 76 shots along with 10 points, while Cohuna Golf had 64 shots all up and only had two points, the lowest score for the ladder leaders this season.

These two sides will be facing each other again this weekend, but with the stakes much higher as they fight for a place in the inaugural Northern Valley Premier League Grand Final.

Over in NSW, Murray Downs have finished off their home-and-away campaign with a win against last place side Kerang Golf and now they can fully focus on finals.

Kerang Golf didn’t make it easy for Murray Downs, however, as they won two of the three rinks available, but they got smashed on Josh Thornton’s rink and that was the main factor on how Murray Downs defeated a hungry looking Kerang Golf side.

Now for Murray Downs, they will face fourth place side Barham in the finals which will be played at Cohuna Bowls Club.

For Kerang Golf, their season has come to a finish after having no wins on the board and only managing 26 points, they will go into the winter break, hoping to strengthen and go again for the 2025/26 season.

In Swan Hill, Racecourse just pulled off the victory against Barham, with Racecourse winning two of the three rinks and having 68 shots while Barham had 66 shots, a very close contest between the two sides.

Despite the win, unfortunately it wasn’t enough as they just missed out on their finals chance by five points, their season is now over.
