KERANG GOLF
A QUIET week at Kerang Golf, with the bowls action happening in town with the Easter tournament and plenty of our members supporting their five-day event, with reports that Frank Ritchie was a late call up for the Saturday Triples and ended up in the runner-up team.
Our regular social bowls last Thursday saw 12 members and guests play a mini tournament format of three games consisting of six ends in a triples format.
After the completion of the three games, there was only one team that had achieved wins every match, with that team consisting of visitors Paula and David Pumpa from Mornington and Rob ‘Curly’ Curtis, with all other teams receiving chocolates in keeping with the Easter spirit.
Members are reminded that the new uniform committee are seeking everyone’s shirt size as they are getting close to putting in an order for our new uniforms.

Thanks to the volunteers who helped with the bins and can collection after the races on Saturday, with proceeds again to be used on improving our facilities for our members.
Our Anzac Day triples tournament is this coming Friday, with the usual soup and pie lunch before bowls.
All proceeds go to the Kerang branch RSL and there have been some very kind donations for the raffle to help swell the funds raised on the day.
There are still a couple of spots left, but get in quick if you wish to play or put in a team, with Aldo (0407 310762) or Frank Ritchie (0409 439029) taking your entries.
COHUNA GOLF
IT was our last day for the Tuesday social bowls this week, with keenly played triples matches to finish with.
Scores were close all round, with Noelene, Kath and Elaine winning the day on a countback.
With a fine range of luncheon items, all enjoyed a meal and chat to wind up a successful year, with thanks going to the match committee ladies who organised everything so well each Tuesday.
Thursday was the next organised outing, with Gunbower hosting the pie and soup tournament.
Golf was well represented, with Peter and Rhonda Bibby, along with Tony Cantwell sneaking into second place.
It’s back at our club this week, with Jean Sutherland taking further entries in addition to those from Gunbower.
Workers have been busy on the greens and surrounds, with the aim of having everything in top shape for the state 60-and-over series in mid-May.
If the weather holds, this will be a big week right around the Northern District.
Also busy were our hard-working ladies, who ran their Easter raffle down the street, which is a great fundraiser for the club, with many thanks to those who gave their time to sell tickets.
The major prize-winner was Karen Richardson, with Elaine Price and Joy Crellin also picking up hampers.
Although we have had a fair representation at the Kerang Easter bowls, there was no joy at presentation time to date, but all enjoyed the camaraderie and greens.
This week it’s off to Lake Boga for their annual two-day triples, with members looking for social bowls outings reminded of play at Kerang on a Tuesday and Barham on Tuesday and Saturday, with a phone call assuring you of a game.
