KERANG

WITH the onset of winter, the activity on the bowling greens slows down considerably.

But the Kerang Bowling Club Tuesday’s Black Duck event has continued to be held with a small field each week enjoying the brisk conditions.

The last two weeks have seen the jackpot claimed on both days so there are some happy bowlers around with some extra cash in their pockets.

Tuesday, June 10 saw 24 players participating, with two game winners being Kim Watts, Ian Roberts and Alan Marshall and the second game winners being Alyne Fagg, Barry Theobald and Terry Nolan.

The jackpot number was -11 and $204 was claimed by Kevin Teasdale, Reg Hipwell and Brian Roche – even after a bad game you’re still a chance to be in the money.

Results for Tuesday, June 17, with 18 players present, saw Greg Tate, Ian Roberts and Marie Miller finish as the two game winners with plus 3, while the second game winners were Alyne Fagg, Kevin Teasdale, who was playing with a stick for the first time, and Glenda Charles, with plus four.

The jackpot number was -9 and this was claimed by Steve Brown (Cohuna Golf), Barry Theobald and Yvonne Summers.

Members have been attending tournaments in Deniliquin and Mathoura with limited success, but it’s good to get around and support the other clubs during the winter months.

The Kerang Bowls Club presentation dinner will be held at the Sporties on Sunday, July 13 at 6.30pm, with names to be placed on the board in the clubhouse.

With the 2025-26 season quickly approaching we will need to know who will be available for midweek and Saturday pennant so that the Northern District fixtures can be done.

A list will be placed on the notice board very soon so please keep your eye out for that.

The ladies only five week program commences on Thursday, July 24, so gather a team to play in the series at five different clubs and check the contact people on the flyers to enter.

Last year was a great success, so let’s keep it going.
