Black Duck two-bowl triples

Kerang

EIGHTEEN players braved the colder conditions last Tuesday to get some exercise and friendship at Kerang Bowling Club’s weekly Black Duck two-bowl triples.

Thanks to Yvonne and Kevin for their continued commitment to this event and keeping everyone involved.

Lindsay Hein, George Fenton and his granddaughter, Tekani Reid, who was visiting with her parents, Robyn and Russell, from Perth, won both games and with three games up overall kept the other winners at bay to claim top money for the day.

Barry Theobald stepped up to skip, supported by two very proficient draw bowlers Judy Hipwell and Noelene Brown to finish four up in the second game and claim that prize money.

The jackpot number drawn was -16 and no one had a bad enough day to claim that. Today it is worth $78, good reason to be in with a chance.

Som, Rod and Don went north to find some sun at the Euston tournament over the weekend, even a couple of degrees warmer can make a difference these days.

The official report was that they had a great weekend with terrific weather, no wind, winning three of their seven games, lost three by a narrow margin to quality sides and had one bye.

You know the old adage, “what happens on tour, stays on tour”, so that is all there is to report. Well done to all of you.

Ashley Peel is also going north for a few weeks so we hope he takes some thermals with him as he and his folks pass through “the centre” in search of warmth.

We hope all goes well and he is back as keen as ever for the pennant season.

A few ardent souls turned up to play four-bowl pairs on Saturday and then as the day grew warmer a few more came along to polish their skills.

Rod Pascoe, June Maddox and George Fenton had birthdays last week and Ian Hastie celebrated his yesterday, keep them rolling on.

Please have your names on the list by July 9 for our presentation dinner at Sporties on July 13 at 6.30pm.

Lists for midweek and Saturday pennant are now on the noticeboard, so please indicate your availability for both of those.

You may have noticed those little green weeds popping up on the greens with insistent regularity, please make a point of going to take a look and pluck them out before they take hold.

There are little tools inside the office door that make it easy to lift them out.
