Bowls notes

Kerang

TWENTY-four players graced the greens in milder conditions last Tuesday at Kerang Bowling Club’s weekly Black Duck two-bowl triples.

We were pleased to welcome visitors from Cohuna, Golf, Boort and Kerang Golf.

Lindsay Hein, Reg Hipwell and Noelene Brown won both games with an overall score of 13 games up to claim top prize money for the day.

It was good to see Maurie Credlin back on the greens and skipping the team to finish eight up in his second game ably supported by Peter Waters and Judy Hipwell to claim the cash.

With prize money for the winning teams announced, there was still a chance of a win when it was time for the jackpot number to be drawn.

When it was revealed as plus 22, there was no chance of a win there either.

Hope springs eternal and we will be back this Tuesday to try our skill with a little bit of luck for $102 on offer.

Of those who played on Saturday, I heard Jacqui Jenkins and Terry Nolan are striking good form which augurs well for the on-coming season.

Our presentation dinner will be held at Sporties on Sunday, July 13, at 6.30pm. Please add your name to the list on the noticeboard if you are attending.

Nomination forms for bowling section positions have been placed on the Club noticeboard.

Please consider where your talents can be utilised to support the functioning of our club.

Midweek and Saturday pennant lists are now on the noticeboard so please indicate your availability for both of those so that we know how many teams to enter in ND Pennant and the Northern Valley Bowling Competition at the start of August.

Memberships are now due and payable at Sporties, please attend to that as soon as possible.

There is a men’s committee meeting this Tuesday night at 7pm and a ladies committee meeting on Wednesday at 10.30am.

Congratulations to Lorraine and Angelo Adams who celebrated their Ruby wedding anniversary on July 5.

Forty years of wedded bliss with never a cross word, so I heard from a totally biased person. May there be many more to come.
