SHDCA Round 3: ULTIMA TUF v RSL

ULTIMA TUF v RSL

RSL continued their winning start to season 2023-24 with a comfortable 92-run win over Ultima TUF on the weekend.

It was a dominant performance with both bat and ball from the Blues, who now find themselves sitting second on the A grade ladder as one of two remaining undefeated sides after the first three rounds.

Batting first, RSL compiled 9-186 from their 40 overs, despite losing top order batsmen Ben Hallam and Kynan Laursen in consecutive balls in the second over of the day.

It was veterans Ryan Hinton (50) and Stuart Patterson (46) who did the damage for the second week in a row, with Josh Waldron (3-10 off eight overs) and Jordan King (3-24) the pick of the bowlers for the Roodogs.

Waldron followed up his fine performance with the ball to lead the way with the bat for Ultima TUF. He top scored with a well-made half-century from 52 balls. However, he was the only shining light for the home side, who were bundled out in the 26th over for just 94.

Leg spinner Oscar Hier snared his second consecutive four wicket haul for the Blues, including the all important wicket of Waldron. He will head into this Saturday’s Round 4 encounter with Swan Hill as the league’s equal leading wicket taker alongside Barham Koondrook’s Chameera Akurugoda and St Mary’s Tyntynder’s Charlie King.
