Nullawil rout disappointing Raiders

Alex Lloyd

BARHAM Koondrook couldn’t capitalise on a tight bowling innings in their B Grade clash against Nullawil, being bowled out for 30 in their run chase.

Sending the Maroons in paid early dividends for the Raiders, who picked up early wickets and had the scorecard at 5/65 at drinks.

Harry Humphreys batted well in the middle order to get Nullawil to exactly 100 runs when they were bowled out in the 35th over.

Sam Hogan made 26 runs, while with the ball Brad Lake took 3/20 and Steve Farrant took 2/6, including six maidens

In reply, Barham Koondrook were in trouble from the outset as Nullawil’s opening bowlers ripped through the top order, bowling the visitors out for dismal 30 in the 23rd over.

Aiden Thompson was the top scorer with 16 runs.

George Forrester took 4/12, while Les Cooper finished off the innings with 2/2 from 3.2 overs.

Tooleybuc chased down the target set by visitors Wandella, who they had kept to a modest total of 86.

The Bombers chose to bat and had a few batsmen who started well without being able to carry the innings, including Scott Bremner (17) and Leigh Hollingworth (16).

The final pairing of Seth Rowe and Jason Brown added five runs each and were able to avoid being dismissed.

Tom Matarazzo took 3/12 from seven overs.

Tooleybuc reached their target with five wickets down and 11 overs to spare thanks to Matarazzo, Lee McNab and Tom Domaille, who all scored in the 20s.

The pick of the bowlers was Hugh Bremner, who took 2/7 from five overs.

Kerang opener Declan Hogg’s half-century wasn’t enough as Nyah District secured a strong win on the road.

After the Blues elected to bat, Hogg was back to his usual self, scoring a quickfire 57 from 41 balls, while at the other end, Adam Ridley scored 26 from 54.

They were the only major contributors to the score, with Nyah District’s bowling attack proving too good.

Charlie Boulton, Ben Sheridan and Tristan Dalbon picked up two wickets each, keeping Kerang to 9/133.

Nyah District’s run chase didn’t come without a fight, Hogg taking 2/17 from his eight overs.

However, the visitors got to the required score in the 27th over just three wickets down.

Justin Toomey scored 40 from 49 balls, Dalbon 33 from 34 and Ashley Thompson 37 not out from 48.
