Raiders fall three runs short

WOORINEN were in early trouble at 4/30 before a partnership between Paul Johnson and Stephen Whittaker got them to a total of 85. The best of the Raiders’ bowlers were Bradley Lake and Riley D’Silva, who each claimed 4/20.

Barham Koondrook got off to a bad start with the bat, losing their first wicket without a run on the board, however a good partnership between Lake and D’Silva put the Raiders back on track. With only 40 runs to get and plenty of overs in hand, Barham Koondrook appeared well on the way to victory.

But when Ali Shah had D’Silva caught and Jackson Hughes took the prized wicket of Lake, Barham Koondrook’s lower order crumbled and the Raiders were dismissed three runs short.

Hughes proved to be the destroyer, taking 5/7 from five overs, with great support from Shah (3/15) and Stephen Whittaker (2/24).


Wandella v St Mary’s Tyntynder

ST Mary’s Tyntynder won the toss and scored at better than a run a ball to finish 4/255.

Tim Free top-scored with 73 and Matt Barnes contributed 63, their partnership broken by a Brodey Farley run-out after they attempted to take a single on a misfield.

The pick of the bowlers for the Bombers was Sam Hollingworth, who finished with 3/37.

The Wandella innings struggled to get going before Farley and Jaspa Chamberlain (27) came together, Farley providing some entertainment for the crowd with 51 from 36 balls.

His departure brought to the crease Hollingworth, who completed a best-on-ground performance by scoring his first 50 in any format and finished unbeaten on 55.

But Wandella found the total too much, finishing 9/204.


Murrabit v Nullawil-Culgoa

NULLAWIL-Culgoa won the toss and sent Murrabit in, Simon Ettershank starting with a patient 28.

The next five batsmen fell for less than five each. But captain Brad Hein stepped up when needed, producing a fine knock of 76.

The Blues finished with 156 off 40 overs, with George Forrester picking up 4/12 off eight overs for the Maroons.

Nullawil-Culgoa’s run chase never got going, with Les Cooper top-scoring with 19 off 73 balls. The Maroons were bowled out for 103.

Jobe Hein was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4/6, and Ettershank also among the wickets with 3/30.
