ST MARY’S Tyntynder have pushed off the threat from the RSL Blues to win by 25 runs in what was a close encounter with both sides pushing for finals.
The Bulldogs captain Nathaniel Holmes-Brown won the toss and instructed his openers to put on the pads as they would be batting first.
Aydan Symons and Austin McKerrow would have a partnership of 25 runs before they both got out for 12 and 13 runs respectively.
The duo of Riley and Corey Daniels had a strong partnership of 68 runs before Corey fell for 46 runs, and the wickets fell quickly afterwards, the final score for St Mary’s was 135 runs.
Riley Daniels and Koben Ryan were also top scorers having 31 runs and 20 runs respectively.
For the bowling attack, Brenton Caldwell was a man on a mission, taking a staggering seven wicket haul.
When the Blues went out to chase down the 135 total set, they lost four wickets in the space of 15 runs, but Jett Hinton and Brenton Caldwell managed to have a solid partnership of 65 runs before Jett Hinton was knocked over by Robin Sebastian Karimalil Sebastian.
The wickets would fall shortly afterwards, and St Mary’s Tyntynder managed to hold on by 25 runs.
Brenton Caldwell was the top scorer for the Blues with 57 runs, an incredible match by him, doing everything he can to help RSL to win, Jett Hinton managed to get himself 18 runs as well being the second top scorer for the Blues.
The Bulldogs captain, Nathaniel Holmes-Brown put in a big spell bowling nearly 17 overs and getting himself four wickets to show for it.
Robin Sebastian Karimalil Sebastian also had an incredible spell of 18 overs and got the better of the captain by getting six wickets.
RSL will face Woorinen Tigers next week, with one last push for the Blues to make finals, while St Mary’s Tyntynder will take on ladder leaders Nyah District who are guaranteed a finals spot with 60 points while the rest of the competition is 36 points or lower.
BARHAM v WANDELLA
IT WAS a low scoring contest between the two Gannawarra Shire rivals, but Barham pulled away victorious, winning by four wickets.
Wandella captain Ryan Barnes, won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Bombers openers padded up and went out to bat, unfortunately, both openers of Daniel Higgs and Flynn McKnight returned to the pavilion earlier than they would’ve hoped for, with Daniel Higgs getting out for a duck while Flynn McKnight was caught for three.
The wickets fell shortly left, right, and centre before they were all out for 49 runs after 34 overs.
Barham’s Chameera Akurugoda was top wicket taker, with four wickets while captains Garry Lolicato and Jayden Hall took two wickets and Caleb Davidson took the final wicket.
The River Raiders went out to bat with an easy score to chase, they had a fright at the start with Lance Davidson going out early for a duck, but Garry Lolicato had a solid innings which steered Barham to the win.
Wandella’s will face the Roodogs at their home pitch this weekend while Barham has finished their final match of the season and should be going through to finals.
NYAH DISTRICT v ULTIMA TUF
NYAH District was too strong once again after smashing out the Ultima Tuf Roodogs by 130 runs.
The Demons captain Ben Shadbolt won the toss and elected to bat first.
Shadbolt and Max Thompson would end up being the top run scorers for Nyah District, earning themselves 55 runs and 54 runs respectively.
Ultima Tuf vice-captain Cassidy Sibley was the top wicket taker, getting a five-wicket haul, while Lleyton Purcell got himself two wickets with Jordan King and Riley Hender getting themselves a wicket as well.
Nyah District would finish with a total 206 runs and nine wickets.
When the Roodogs went out to bat, Jacob Hatcher fell early in the contest for only four runs, and wickets started falling shortly afterwards, and Ultima Tuf was all out for only 76 runs.
Top scorers were Josh Waldron, Kyle Symons, and Roodogs captain Kade Benfield, who all got 18, 16, and 15 runs respectively.
It was a fair share of wickets for the Demons, with Nash Richman and Jacob Lister getting themselves three wickets each.
Tom Bell got himself two wickets while Shadbolt and Charlie Boulton took a wicket each to wrap up Ultima Tuf’s innings.
The Roodogs will play their last match on the road against Wandella while Nyah District will face St Mary’s Tyntynder.
