Beautiful day for stableford round

Kerang

Ladies golf – Wednesday, October 9.

It was a beautiful day for 12 ladies to play for the Chino’s Stableford round this week.

The course was magnificent and there were no excuses for poor scores… apart from trees, water, channels, concentration and skill.

Ruth McAlister was victorious with 35 pts and was excited to get down to Chino’s to celebrate her victory. Thanks, Raelene, for your sponsorship.

Runner-up was our captain Michelle Dillon with 33pts on a countback from Lorraine Bray.

Carol Dear won the Chino’s coffee voucher on the 9th and Marg Learmonth collected June’s nearest the pin on the 3rd with a sizzling stroke.

The hottest competition for the day was the coveted pen award.

There were five out of luck golfers in hot contention, but it was lucky Ronda Boulton who snagged it after a three-way countback.

Next week we have everybody’s favorite game – par. Be there at 9.30am for 10am hit off.

Thursday golf

The old folks enjoyed a fine weather day for golf with a big field of golfers thanks to six of our visitors staying at the course and joining in for the day.

Ken Williams, one of our older lefties, had the most enjoyable round and won the day with a great score of 40 pts.

In the ball pool was Simon Shanks on 38pts, visitor Trevor Topp and Geoff Williams on 37pts and there were three on 36pts, being Fred O’Bryan, Don Maling, another visitor, and Kevin Sambrooks.

The nearest the pins were Bill Downton on the 3rd, Don Maling (5th), Bryan Delaney (9th), 13th Terry Tisdale (13th) and Gary Thorne 16th).

Our visitors enjoyed the course as all but one won a ball.

Saturday golf

It was the first Saturday of the month, we played for the medal and the big Dibba is coming into fine form with club championships around the corner, finishing with a fine round of 78 off the stick to win with a nett 65.

Playing very consistently he had 40 going out and 38 coming in, producing the best strokescore of the day.

In the ball pool was Ross Nesbit with nett 66, Gav Teasdale and Don Ross on nett 68, Doug Ellwood, John Murphy and Ron Thouliss with nett 70s and the last ball went to Phil Lloyd on a countback from four others, including Forrest and the captain.

Nearest the pins were Ballsy Hall (3rd), Don Ross (5th), Graham Wyte (9th), the money hole went to Phil Lloyd and the 16th to Gav Teasdale.

Our coveted pen prize went to Shagga, so please everyone no golf jokes to Blake this week.

Our Westy 4b got under way with Gav and Dibba defeating the pres and Nezzy 4/2, so those two are into the next round.

Please golfers if you are in this event get your matches organised.

Don’t forget our annual tournament next week. Those members attending, please bring a plate.

The club championships start on October 26, and speaking of events, don’t forget Groove on the Green on November 10.
