Thursday Golf

A good roll up of 21 rich and retired golfers turned up on a beautiful Thursday afternoon to play on our course.

Although it’s a little bit dry at the moment, our green staff are conserving our water until we get a bit more allocation. Recent rain will help.

Fast out of the blocks after all the practice he’s been doing lately was Joe Tartaglia, opening up with three-straight pars.

After mixing up the rest of his round with bogies and pars he ended up with a fine score of 39 points.

In the ball pool was Ray Gourlay 37, Mark Henderson (good to see him back) 36 and Terry Turvey on 35 points.

Nearest the pins were Rob Fabry (3rd), Chris Manners (5th), Maurice Meehan (9th), Graham Wyte (13th) and Allan Free (16th).

Saturday Golf

Another good day on Saturday and another good roll up of players, with men playing for the the Greenwood Mugge and ladies competing for the goblet.

The players to look out for this month, who won the tankards, are the still in good form Joe Tartaglia with an impressive 41 points, and for the ladies Lorraine Bray with 35 points.

The best stroke score for the day went to Andrew Spitty with a two under the card 69 and the pen went home with Peter Hall.

Nearest the pins went to Blake Shay (3rd), Gav Teasdale (5th), Shane Dibsdale (9th), James Meehan (Superpin 13th) and Tony Hall (16th).

In the ball pool was Tony Hall 40, Shane Dibsdale, Gary Pay, Andrew Spitty, and Ross Nesbit who were all on 39points.

Geoff Williams, Blake Shay followed on 37points and Chris Gray had 36.

Coming events:

We have our annual tournament this week, culminating with our Pat McKnight Memorial Trophy on Saturday and a three-person ambrose on Sunday.

The RSL Sponsored Legacy day four-person ambrose is on November 3, and Groove on the Green will be held on November 10.

Chris Gray and Blake Shay defeated Gary Pay and Greg McNeil 3/2 in the Ian Westland 4 ball.

Well done to those two and please keep these games coming.

Anyway, hope to see you all this week on the golf course. Until next week, good swinging.

There was no ladies golf on Wednesday. The ladies were resting up to tackle the Annual Tournament 4 BBB yesterday.
