District golf round-up

Cohuna

ANOTHER big week of golf this week, culminating with the men’s monthly medal on Sunday.

Cooler conditions saw a few more ladies take to the course on Wednesday to play a game of par. Not much separated the top three, with Marlene Bird (-2) taking the prize from Vera Miller (-3), with Lois Stone getting the consolation at -4 on a countback.

Sandra Hancock won the NTP on the second and Glenda Crichton was closest with her second on the third.

In big news, the R & R boys changed things up a bit on Thursday – not playing stableford and a draw for partners playing foursomes. Peter Courtney and John Power prevailed with a 61, with Dennis Griffiths and Jake Roberts runners up with 70. Crazy times and you’ve got to wonder what the boys will be playing next week?

NTPs went to Bruce Winship, Dennis Griffiths, John Power and Kevin Crane.

More par fun for the Saturday competition, but no complaints from Joel Woolhouse, who returned a very impressive + 6 . Troy Van der Zande was runner-up with a very well compiled +4, and also had NTPs on 2 and 11. John Power picked up yet another ball with NTP on 17.

Sunday was medal day, with a good field of 35 players enjoying the warm conditions. Darren Barry looked in the box seat, but was edged out on a countback by Owen McLoughan on 72 nett. Consolations went to Scotty Carmichael on 73 nett and veteran Neil Bradley on 74 .

Dennis Mc Glone was NTP on the second, Joy Johnson and Kevin Crane on the 11th and Darren Barry on 17 .

Next Sunday is the four player survivor ball day, $15 per player, so get a team organised for a fun day.Kerang Ladies
