In near perfect conditions, the Wednesday ladies competition saw new member Julia Roulston rack up 35 stableford points to edge out Vera Millar on a countback .

Linda Maloney had the closest second shot on the third and Wendy Woods was closest on the 11th.

After their experiment with an alternate format, the R & R boys reverted back to stableford this week. Once again it was down to a countback for the top two with Brian the Whale Roberts edging out the up and coming Bob Nichols with 34 points.

Peter Courtney snagged the NTP on the the 8th while Geoff Millar picked up the lollies for his effort on the 11th.

Chicken run had its final hit for the season on Thursday with 28 players turning out for a two player Gentsomes.

Countback was required with Joel Woolhouse and Peter Gargan winners on 44 points from perennial chicken bandits Daniel Heap and Jordan Mathers.

Saturday was stableford again, and after a lengthy consultation with the computer, Al Moloney announced to those remaining that John Power was the winner with 37 points and that he was runner-up on 35 points.

Matt Miles had a dubious NTP on the 2nd, Mitch Treacy was on the 8th and JP took both 11 and 17. Word according to Al and his computer is that JP may be playing off five in his next outing.

Sunday was the Gannawarra Shire sponsored Survivor Ball Day which saw 40 players take to the course in perfect conditions.

As often happens in these events, a team assembled at the last minute prevailed with Mitch Treacy, Daymon Coulson, Mark Bishop and Matty Heap winning the men’s team event with 120 points, and also took out the Survivor Ball award with 40 points.

In the ladies, the team of Marlene Bird, Debbie Rodgers, Jenny Dehne and Jenni Goulding were victorious with a score of 115 points.

The ladies Survivor Ball winners with a score of 34 points was Julia Roulston, Joy Johnson, Wendy Woods and Linda Maloney.

NTPs for the ladies went to Sandra Hancock, Jenni Goulding and Julia Roulston, while for the men it was Bob Nicholls, Dennis McGlone, and Matty Heap on both 11 and 17.

Good luck to the Cohuna team contesting the Waverly Shield next Sunday at Kerang.

Kerang Golf Ladies

A good roll up of 11 ladies, including Ruth McAlister from Lakeside. Angela Morton kept up her good play with 37 points and had a win for the day. Meryl Cameron was happy with her 36 points (which included a birdie on the 3rd), followed by Angela Giouzellis with 32 points. It was not Shirley’s day, but her new pen will help with her secretary role.

Michelle had nearest the pin on the 9th and finished with 31 points despite several close tree encounters.

Next week is assembly at 9am for a 9.30am start so we hope to see more players with the milder weather.

Thursday R & R Stableford, March 24

24 Players contested the stableford event, with Don Ross coming in with winning score on a C/B from two others on 36 points. Ball pool were Gary Pay and Ross Nesbit on 36 points, Chris Waterson on 34 points and Kevin Chase also on a C/B from 4 others on 33 points. NTP’s 3rd W O’Neill, 5th D Ross, 9th G Wyte, 13th B Gladman and 16th A Spitty

Saturday Golf

Graham Wyte (12), who has been playing some good golf of late, won the day with 39 points. Ladies winner was Mabel Spitty (27) on c/b from her sister Sadie (44) both had 35 points. In the ball pool was Ron Schultze (25) 36, Sadie Spitty, Gavin Teasdale (12) 35, Blake Shay (10) 34. Nearest the pins were Michelle Dillon 5th, Jenny Waterson 9th, Luke Hadfield 13th and Chris Waterson 16th.

Sunday Golf

McLardy McShane Clark 4P Ambrose day drew a good crowd of players for the prizes on offer. The team of Chris and Jen Waterson, Corey Williams and Doug Meehan with a score of 62 – 6.7 = 55.3 to win on c/b from Luke Hadfield, Barry Gladman, Trent Hawkins and Michael O’Reilly 63 – 7.7 = 55.3 and third place was Scott Worner, Peter Harley, Dean Alexander and David Doolan 65 – 7.1 = 57.9. Nearest the pins were Don Ross 3rd, Corey Williams 5th, Alan Free 9th, Dave Doolan 13th and Noel Robertson 16th.
