District golf round-up

Kerang

Kerang Ladies Golf, April 13Eleven ladies enjoyed the walk and the sunshine. Some trouble was had with balls in water and in a muddy drain. Nola (15th) , Shirley (9th) and Rosie (13th) all managed a birdie.

The winner on a count back from Carol and Nola was Jill with 35 points.

Shirley took out the coffee voucher being nearest the pin on the 9th. Chrissy had a challenging day but on a positive note she has a new pen.

Thursday, April 15 R & R Stableford

Nineteen members and two visitors entered the event, with the winner being Phil Lloyd on 38 points, Ron Schultze and Alan Free both on 37 points and Wayne O’Neill got the last ball in the ball pool. NTP’s saw Doug Ellwood collect for the 3rd and 9th Holes, while Richard Baird took out the 5th, with Alan Free scoring on the 13th and no one got the 16th.

Saturday, April 17, Stableford

A small field of 11 played the course, with Ron Schultze winning on a c/b from Captain Jack Hewitt on 34 points. Kevin Lane and Ross Nesbit got the last ball in the ball pool with 33 points each.

Ladies, Wednesday 20 April

We welcomed the lovely rain, but it was very heavy underfoot for the Ladies. Michelle Dillon (8) had 31 points and was the only player to make it over 30 points.

Runner-up was Deaniee Henderson (19) on 28 points. Rhonda Willoughby (24) took home the ball from the ball pool.

Meryl Cameron won the Chino’s NTP on the 9th. Chrissy Downs collected the Pen Award, going back-to-back.

Thursday, April 21, R & R Stableford

31 members and guests tried to conquer the course, which was in great condition after the rain. A big field with visitors from Lakeside, Berriwillock and Snake Valley golf clubs joining in. President Terry Turvey (15) finally found some form and won the day with 38 points. in the ball pool was Allan Free (19) 36, Wayne O’Neill (26), Col Wilkie (12) both on 35 and Ross Nesbit (11) 32. Welcome back to Col Wilkie after his back operation and into form straight away. Nearest the pins were Phil Lloyd 3rd, Ron Thouliss 5th, Doug Meehan 9th, Graham Wyte 13th and Jack Hewitt on the 16th.

Saturday, April 23

Well, you could tell that footy has started as numbers are down a little but that didn’t worry Phil “Emu” Lloyd (11) who came into form to win with 38 points and possibly should have been more if he could putt. Winner for the Ladies was Michelle Dillon (8) 35pts. Ball pool was Graham Wyte (11) 36, Luke Hadfield (12) 35, Tony Laughlin (8), Chris Waterson (5) and Shirley Jenner (22) picked up the last balls all with 34pts. Nearest the pins went to Terry Turvey 3rd, Graham Wyte 5th, Bruce Robertson from Hill Top GC 9th, Shirley Jenner got the reward on the 13th, and no one managed to land on the 16th.

Veterans

31 vets entered.

Ladies

Winner: Michelle Dillon 35pts, runner-up Kerry Gammon 32pts.

Ball pool: Joyce Boyd and Carol Letheby 32pts each, Jannine Bibby and Marg Learmonth 28pts.

NTP: 2nd Ruth McAllister, 8th Michelle Dillon, 11th Carol Letheby and 17th Meryl Cameron.

Men

Winner Don Ross 39pts, runner-up Dennis Koik 35pts

Ball pool: Greg Gin 34pts, Mark O’shea 32, Joe Tartaglia and Gary Thorne 32pts.

NTPs: 2nd Hank Van Der Veen, 8th Don Ross, 11th Mark O’Shea and 17th Ron Schultze.

Next month’s event will be at Barham Golf Club on Tuesday, May 17. 9am assembly and hit-off 9.30am.
