KERANG

May 18 ladies golf

Only six ladies played stableford this week. Michelle had the best score with 33 points, followed by Rhonda with 31 points. Chrissy was nearest the pin on the 9th. Rosie has a new pen to remember her day.

Our Gold Watch event is coming up so donations for the raffle (grocery box) are needed. Next week is a 9.30am assembly for 10 am hit off. All welcome to play.

Thursday R & R Stableford

A good field for today’s Stableford event (20), with the last group in bringing in the winner, Wayne O’Neill, with 40 points. Ball Pool was D Wood 36, J Tartaglia 35 and R Nesbit 34. NTPs went to Chris Waterson 3rd and 16th, 5th J Hewitt, 13th R Nesbit and the 9th went begging again.

Saturday golf

A nice day for golf on Saturday and of the golfers that played Graham Wyte (12) played the best to win with 37 points. Graham has been very consistent of late, and this win was well deserved. Ladies’ winner was Donna Grant (22) on 34 pts, who is on the comeback trail after a long break and she won on a countback from our youngest golfer Mabel Spitty (25) who just happened to be playing with our oldest golfer Rhonda Willoughby. In the ball pool we had Mabel, Tony Laughlin (9) and Jan Harry (13), who both had 33 pts. Nearest the pins were Ross Nesbit on the 3rd and 9th, Jan Harry got the money on 13 and Mabel Spitty with her first shot of the day won it on the 16th and no one managed to land on the 5th.

Sunday golf

Our Golconda 4P Ambrose day drew a big crowd of over 60 golfers and the winners were the Spitty family of Andrew, Olive, Sadie and Mabel with a score of 62 – 7.4 = 54.6. Runners up were Tony and Rosie Laughlin, David wood and Ross Nesbit with 65 – 7.9 = 57.1. nearest the pins went to Andrew Spitty 3rd, Ian Kees 5th, Mabel Spitty 9th (which was very close to a hole in one), Chris Waterson 13th and Peter Hall on the 16th. Next week is monthly medal so get your names on www.bookatee.com.au/kerang and we’ll see you all there.

COHUNA

EVERY club has them. Those people that seem to do just that bit more than most, often without thanks or recognition.

One such person at our club is Don Potter and he had his turn in the sun last Thursday by taking out the weekly R&R Stableford competition with 37 points.

Brenton Smyth came in second with 35, with Bob Nicholls 3rd with 33.

NTPs went to Greg Roberts on 2, N. Body on 8 and Brenton Smyth on 11 and 17.

Saturday saw a good field in attendance but it was early starters Liam Pascoe and David Mann taking the majors with 38 and 35 respectively.

Kevin Crane and Mal Appleby were next best with 34 apiece.

NTPs went to Kevin Crane on 2, David Mann on 8, Alan Moloney on 11 and Mal Appleby on 17.

Unfortunately, somebody thought that they needed a golf flag for some reason as we found our 15th Green without one on Sunday morning.

This poor person must really be hard up for amusement if that sort of thing is seen as something worthwhile doing.

If anyone has seen this desperate person with a flag you think as somewhat unusual, perhaps you can ask this person to return it to the golf club.

Golf was still able to be played, however, on Sunday and Sandra Hancock absolutely blitzed the field with +4 for the ladies, with skipper Liz Thynne also scoring well with +1. Mitch Treacy had a great +2 for the men, while Neil Bradley and Trevor Farrant were both even par. NTPs for the day – ladies – Sandra Hancock on 2, Joy Johnson on 8 and Robyn McGraw on 11 and 17.

For the men, it was Mitch Treacy on 2, Paul Reid on 8, Greg Roberts on 11 and Alan Walkington on 17.

It was also the qualifying round for the men’s four-ball knockout so congratulations to all of those who went through to the next round.

The pennant final will be held this Sunday, with the first group hitting off at 11.

Both division 1 and 2 finals will be held at Cohuna, with Cohuna playing Lalbert in both divisions. Good Luck all.
