BOB Nicholls has been very consistent recently and right around the mark without much fanfare, but last Thursday saw him take the chocolates with 37 points.

Brenton Smyth came in second with 35 followed by Greg Roberts and Kevin Crane split on 34. Alan Moloney took NTP on 2 as did Mal Appleby on 9 and Brenton Smyth was closest on 11.

On to Saturday and Shannon Treacy had a great day scoring 40 points. Trevor Farrant also scored very well with 39 as did Mitch Treacy with 37. Brenton Smyth had 36 and visitor Leigh Gorrie had 35. Helen Thies was best of the ladies with 32 from Kate Peace with 31. Helen also took NTP on 2. Garry Yates was closest on 2 for the men, Trevor Farrant on 2, Dennis Griffiths on 11 and Bruce Bird on 17.

Sunday’s bleak conditions saw a smaller field but Liam Pascoe shone brightly scoring 38 points from Jamie Angove with 35. NTPs went to Roy Dehne on 2, Trevor Farrant on 8 with Joel Woolhouse scoring both 11 and 17.

Men NTP knockout saw Brian and Greg Roberts victorious over Trevor Farrant and Alan Walkington. The other match had Scott Carmichael and Paul Reid defeating Neil Bradley and Martin Ellery.

Murrabit

THE field teed off last Saturday playing stroke which was the second round of the Club Championships.

Results of the day’s event were: Winner K. McNeill (27) 68, runner-up B. Anderson (27) 71. NTP 6th B. Anderson. Ball Pool S. Baker, J. Ficken, R. Sharples, A. Deppeler.

Good luck to everyone for the third and final round of the club championships which will be played on Saturday, June 18.

Wishart’s Gold Watch on May 27

Wishart’s Jeweller’s, have been our sponsors for the Gold Watch 4 Ball event for 41 years. That is a

remarkable connection to the Kerang Golf Club, and we thank you.

Nineteen pairs took part in this event, after having to cancel for the past two years, due to COVID-19. Deaniee Henderson and Jean Youl with 42 points should always be on time from now on, winning the coveted watches from Mandy Ackland and Deanne Free, on 41 points.

The Ball Pool consisted of the three pairs, Lisa Hyne/Jeanette Weaver, Anne Laughlin/Janet Hicks and Rhonda Willoughby/ Marg Learmonth, all on 40 points.

NTPs 3rd Jennie Goulding, 5th Carol Dear, 9th Deanne Free, 13th Tricia Whitney and 16th Michelle Dillon.

Our top two golfers from Wednesday, Joyce Boyd and Ange Giouzellis, paired up to take home a new pen.

Saturday, May 28

A bigger field than usual on Saturday even though the cold weather is starting to come. A lot of jackets, coats and beanies have now been seen on the course, so we know winter is upon us. David Wood (10) won the day on c/b from Blake Shay (9) both on 37 points. In the ball pool was Joe Tartaglia (14), Phil Lloyd (11) both on 36, Deaniee Henderson (20) and Shirley Jenner (22) on 35 got the last two balls. NTPs were Tony Laughlin 3rd, Jenny Waterson 9th, Joe Tartaglia got the money on 13, David Wood on the 16th and no one could find the 5th. We welcomed a visitor Graeme Brierly from Tocumwal, and he duly won the pen award.

Wednesday, June 1

In freezing conditions 10 ladies played for the Monthly Shirt. Carol Dear 100-24=76 was the best for the day to win herself a new shirt. Ange Morton 97-18=79 and Michelle Dillon 87-8=79 were in the Ball Pool. Ange was also the Queen of the greens with 26 putts. A countback was required for the Pen Award, with Chrissy Downs taking it home. Rosie Laughlin had the shot of the day on Chino’s 9th Hole.

Thursday, June 2

On a cold, but not windy afternoon, 19 well rugged-up golfers contested the R & R Stableford event, with Terry Turvey coming home with a great score of 39 points, to win the day’s event. Ball Pool was Tony Laughlin 36, Brendan Shields 35 and Phil Lloyd on 34 from 3 others on a count back.

NTPs 3rd T. Turvey, 5th went begging again, 9th P. Lloyd, 13th C. Wilkie 16th G Brierley.

Saturday, June 4

Quite a large field for this time of the year and Ross Nesbit (11) has won this month’s Medal with a score of 71 net. Ladies’ winner was Jill Marshall (34) 71 from Deaniee Henderson (19) 74. In the ball pool was Neil Carmichael (40) and David Wood (9) both on 73, Tony Laughlin (9), Graham Wyte (12), Andrew Spitty (+3) and Deaniee Henderson all on 74 net and Joe Tartaglia missed out on c/b.

NTPs were Ross Nesbit 3rd, Graham Wyte 5th, David Wood 9th, Tony Laughlin 13th and Andrew Spitty on the 16th.
