THE members at Cohuna Golf Club are very lucky to have Paul Robinson as our greenkeeper.

Ably assisted by Patrick Doyle, Paul has our course in absolutely A grade condition.

I, for one, congratulate and thank these gents, along with the volunteers, for the great work they do.

Last Thursday saw Bob Nicholls return to the podium, taking out the winner’s prize with 37 points. Regular visitor from Bendigo, Lee Lucas scored well (if you hadn’t heard) with 36. Hayden Bird had 34 and Garry “long strides” Yates had 33.

There was a bit of a mix up with the NTPs so apologies if you’re not mentioned, but I’ve got Bob Nicholls on 2, Alan Moloney on 8, Lee Lucas on 11 and Garry Yates on 17.

We had a beautiful day on Saturday for a stroke round and Geoff Miller apparently putted extremely well to score nett 71.

Brenton Smyth had 74, Doug Peace 75 with Rhys Bradley and Rob Johns 76 apiece.

Rob also took out the NTP on 2 as did Brenton Smyth on 11.

The men’s monthly medal was held on Sunday with a good filed in attendance. This month’s medal goes to Dennis McGlone with nett 72 from Dennis Griffiths with 74. Next came a bunch on 76, including Ted Jackson, Darren Barry, Brian Roberts and Joel Woolhouse.

For the ladies par event, Genevieve Hare finished even, with Glenda Crichton on -1 and Linda Moloney and Helen Thies with -2.

Unfortunately the NTPs weren’t recorded in the scoring system, so I cannot provide them in this report.

KERANG

LADIES on Wednesday, June 22

Eleven ladies stepped out in the drizzle to contest a stableford round this week.

Fortunately, the weather improved as the day progressed which is more than can be said for some of the golf on display.

Geraldine Kennedy made the course look simple with a solid 34 points.

Ange Morton continued her consistent form with 33, followed by Chrissy Downs on 30 and a disgruntled captain Michelle with 28.

Chrissy played a fabulous shot on the 9th to collect the Chino’s coffee voucher. Carol Dear found the course a little challenging today, but she did collect a shiny new pen.

Thursday R&R Stableford on June 23

A wet start greeted golfers on Thursday and Brendan Shields (13) made the most of it by winning with 38 points from Doug Ellwood (23) on 35.

In the ball pool was Doug, Ray Gannon (30) continuing his good form and Phil Lloyd (10) both on 34.

On the par 3, the best shots went to Joe Tartaglia 3rd, Luke Hadfield 9th, Doug Ellwood 13th and no one landed on the 5th and 16th.

Saturday Stableford on June 25

Another great day for golf and Doug Meehan (5) had his best day for a while and won with 38 points.

Jenny Waterson (15) won for the ladies with 31 pts. In the ball pool was Peter Jones (15) 37, Gavin Teasdale (12) 35, Brendan Shields (13), David Wood (9) and John Murphy (23) all on 34 points.

Nearest the pins went to John Murphy on the 3rd, Joe Tartaglia 5th, Kevin Lane 9th and 16th and Graham Wyte got the money on the 13th.

We had a visitor from Forest Hills Golf Club in Robert Giles who also won the pen.

Next week is monthly medal and captain Jack is going to start a 9-hole competition and there will be notices on the board at the club to explain how this will work.
