Cohuna

THE final round of the men’s club championship was held on Sunday and the net championship winner in A Grade was Joel Woolhouse, in B Grade Rhys Bradley, and in C Grade Mark Bishop.

The A Grade stroke champion and club champion was Joel Woolhouse. The B Grade winner was Rhys Bradley and the C Grade winner was Allan Walkington.

There was no play last Thursday due to weather and Saturday’s round was reduced to the front nine being played twice. Bruce Bird was best with 38 points. Matt Miles recorded 34 points with Troy Van Der Zande scoring 33. NTPs went to Matt Miles, Dom Baxter, Bruce Bird and Troy Van Der Zande.

The club would also like to extend its thanks to Ben Appleby who came out to assist with some fallen trees last week.

Kerang

IT’S been a trying week and things are going to get worse, we are led to believe. Good luck with keeping your house in order. Only the ladies were able to get a round of championship play completed just before the rains set in.

Thursday’s players and the first round of the men’s championships were not so lucky. At this stage we don’t know if there will be any golf this week. Only the rain god knows.

On Wednesday the ladies were lucky were we to fit golf in before the heavens opened. It was the first round of the club championships after play was called off last week. Eleven ladies fronted up to contest the A and B Grades.

Olive Spitty carded a superb round of 71 (0) 71 to be leading in A Grade, including three birdies, on the 1st, 6th and 15th. Not to be outdone by her big sister, Mabel Spitty had a lovely round of 95 (22) 73 to lead B Grade. Fabulous golf, girls.

The weekly event was Monthly Medal and Jan Harry took home the prize this month with 83 (14) 69. Jan also snagged the Chino’s nearest-the-pin prize on the 9th.

We had our prestigious Medallist of the Year contest with several of our monthly medal winners competing. The winner for 2022 was Mabel Spitty, who had a super day out.

The course is under water now so let’s hope it is back to its best next Wednesday to complete the championships. We will have afternoon tea following golf so all are welcome to join us. See you at 9.30am for a 10am start.
