We’re all sick of rain and the sight of water but our course has seriously benefited from it.

The fairways are like carpet and beautiful to hit off and our greens are amazing. Why wouldn’t you want to be out playing golf!

At ladies golf on Wednesday, Shirley Jenner made the most of the course today with a solid 38 points. Following close behind were Deanne Free and Jean Youl who both had 35 points to claim a ball.

Michelle Dillon won the nearest the pin Chino’s voucher with a great shot on the 9th and Carol Dear (with a very secret score) took home a new pen.

With great weather and a course in very good condition for Thursday R&R Stableford, it was there for the taking today and Gavin Teasdale was the one to do it with a score of 38 points.

Ballpool saw L Hadfield, R Thoulliss and J Youl all on 37 points, C Waterson and J Tartaglia on 36 points on a countback from three others.

NTPs went to S Dibsdale on the 3rd, R Thoulliss on the 5th, T Laughlin on the 9th & 16th and finally R Nesbitt on 13th.

Luke Hadfield scored an Eagle on the 6th hole.

Twilight on Friday had a nice little field but a few more would be good so come along and play, it’s also a good way to introduce yourself to golf.

The winner of twilight with a very good score was Mark Henderson with 48-16=32 from Karyl Hewitt 51-17=34.

Saturday’s event was a stroke round and second round of club champs.

The winner of the day’s event with a very fine score of 67 nett was John Murphy (23) on a count back from the captain Jack Hewitt (12).

In the Ladies, Michelle Dillon (10) was a clear winner on 38 pts from Deaniee Henderson (18) on 33.

The ball pool was Jack Hewitt, Graham Wyte (14) 68, Chris Waterson (5) and David Knight (16) 70, Ron Schultze (26) 71, Wayne O’Neill (23) and Casey Gillen (18) both 73and Peter Hall (14) picked up the last ball on countback from Col Wilkie (11) 74.

Nearest the pins went to Gary Pay on the 3rd, Jack Hewitt 5th, Andrew Spitty 9th, Roger Pay 13th and Phil Lloyd on the 16th.

Andrew Spitty and Chris Waterson had the best scores with 75 each and the pen winner was Mark Henderson.

Leaders in our championships after two rounds are, Andrew Spitty leading A Grade from Chris Waterson, Gav Teasdale leading B Grade from Brendan Shields and Casey Gillen leading C grade.

We held our last day of club championships on Sunday and our winners included the irrepressible Casey Gillen in the C Grade, who kept up his form for three weeks and won with 275 strokes from the fast-finishing John Murphy on 281 strokes.

In the B Grade, in a very tight contest, Peter Hall came from way back in the boon docks to overrun everyone to win with 261 from Brendan Shields on 262.

In the A Grade Andrew Spitty won his sixth title in a row and ninth overall winning with a score of 217 to win from Chris Waterson on 234.

Other awards, John Murphy won the Charlie Nesbit Memorial trophy for the best nett score of the championships, with a score of 212 to win from Jack Hewitt on 213.

Jack Hewitt won the Matt Colville Medallist of the Year and also the NDGA Medallist of the Year for the best nett score for the first two rounds with a nett 138.

The Ladies were playing for the Les Jobling Trophy and the winner of this was Michelle Dillon with 107 points to win easily from Jan Harry on 95 points.

The competition for the day was again another stroke round and the winner was Peter Hall (14) with a net 67.

Winner for the Ladies, who played a Stableford round, was Michelle Dillon (10) 39 points from Mabel Spitty (22) on 36.

In the ball pool we had John Murphy (23) and Terry Turvey on nett 68, Peter Jones (15) and Kevin Lane (16) who were on 70 nett, Chris Gray (16) and Graham Wyte (14) both on 71 nett.

Nearest the pins were Blake Shay on the 3rd, Michelle Dillon 5th, Ron Schultze 9th, Andrew Spitty 13th and Logan Keighran on the 16th.
