Golf notes – Kerang

IN the Easter Monday two-person Ambrose, 40 players entered, coming from Heidelberg, Forest Hills, Barham, Cohuna and Murray Downs. The winning combination of John Howorth and Paul Robinson, with 64-1=63, took out the top prize. Runners-up were Chris Gray and Chris Waterson with 69-4=65.

The ball pool went to Blake Shay and S. Dibsdale with net 66, Michell Dillon and Terry Turvey (net 67) and Luke Hadfield and Barry Gladman (net 67). NTP on the 3rd was B. Shay, 5th J. Murray, 9th A. free, 13th P. Robinson and 16th L. Keighran.

The 10 ladies who started Wednesday’s round finished by being hailed out. Bad luck, girls.

In Thursday’s R&R, 9 entries and one visitor completed the field. It was the old hand Tony Laughlin who, with a little assistance from some fiery little ants, came out in the lead to finish with 35 points on a countback from the previous week’s winner Kevin Chase. The ball pool went to K. Lane, D. Meehan and G. Wyte all on 34 points. The NTP on the 3rd was D. Hall, 5th & 16th T. Laughlin and visitor Ian Doggett won on the 9th and 13th.

On Saturday not many turned up for the day and once it started raining all but three called it a day. Of the three who finished, apart from being very wet, the winner with 35 points was David Knight (15). Well done Knighty. Ron Schultze got the only NTP on the 3rd.

On Sunday the club played Pennant at Cohuna. Division 1 played against Cohuna and were defeated 4.5/0.5, with Phil Lloyd halving his match. In Division 2, they lost 3/2 with the only winners being Deaniee Henderson and Ron Schultze.

This week Pennant is at Kerang, so hopefully we have a good day and come away with a couple of wins.
