Veterans

FORTY veteran golfers braved the heat at Barham for the first veterans Stableford event for the year last Tuesday.

Thank you for the help of the staff, the condition of the course and the supply of ice water on the course so that us old golfers did not dehydrate.

And we finished before the wild weather arrived.

B Grade winner with 32 points was Kerry Gammon and runner-up on a countback was Nola Robinson.

Men’s A Grade winner was John Manser 38 points, while runner-up was Rick McKenzie on 36 points.

Men’s B Grade winner with 33 points was Graeme Bray and runner-up was Kevin Chase on 32 points.

Nearest to pins were Jenny Lynas, Nola Robinson, Marg Learmonth, Geraldine Kennedy (nearly a hole-in-one), Dennis Pretty, John Manser, Ian Dodd and Rick McKenzie.

Ball pool: Ruth McAlister, Marg Learmonth, Joan Hobbs, Joyce Boyd, Kevin Lane, Ken Jones, Ray Power, Col Wilkie and David Wilkinson.

The next veterans’ event is at Kerang on Tuesday, March 12, 8.30am assembly for 9am start. AGM to follow.

A good attendance would be great. You won’t get a job unless you raise your hand. Don’t forget to bring your own lunch.
