APOLOGIES to our readers for missing last weeks edition, I must be getting old and forgetful.
Wednesday, July 10 was ladies’ Stableford, played by eight and won by Rowena Henry with 35 points, while M. Dillon 34 and J. Boyd 32 made it into the ball pool. Chino’s nearest the pin went to M.Dillon.
Thursday, July 11 was R&R Stableford involving 18 members, played in rain-threatening conditions and finished before the rain set in.
The winner was captain Jack Hewitt with 37 points, while the ball pool went to C.Wilkie and B.Shay with 33 and R.Gannon on 32, with B.Shay (5th), B.Shields (9th) and C.Wilkie (16th) winning the nearest the pins.
Saturday, July 13 was Greenwood Mugge Stableford, played by 24 members in some very wet and cold conditions.
Col Wilkie won with 35 points. The ball pool went to K.Chase 34, W.O’Neill 33, K.Lane 33 and R.Nesbitt 32, while the nearest the pins went to C.Wilkie (3rd), D.Wood (5th), L.Hadfield (9th) and T.Hall (13th), with the pen award going to D.Ellwood.
Wednesday last week was ladies’ Stableford, which had nine ladies braving the morning’s conditions.
Rosie Laughlin (35) won with 35 points, with Rosie also scoring the Chino’s coffee voucher on the 9th hole, while the ball pool went to Shirley Jenner (21) and Jan Milne (44), who each scored 30 points.
Thursday was R&R Stableford with 22 members on another very cold afternoon, and some fairways remained quite wet from the recent rain.
Col Wilkie was the day’s winner with 36 points, while the ball pool went to T.Turvey, K.Chase and R.Gannon all on 34 points.
The nearest the pins were won by K.Lane (3rd), C.Wilkie (5th), D.Meehan (9th), T.Hall (13th) and J.Hewitt (16th), while the pen award was won on a countback by Shane Dibsdale.
Saturday was Stableford.
There were only five hardy, or should that be foolhardy, golfers playing, with Ray Gannon finishing as the winner with 30 points, ahead of Col Wilkie on 28 points.
The other scores were R.Nesbit (28), A.Free (20) and B.Shields (19), with only one nearest the pin being claimed by Col Wilkie on the 13th.
