Ladies Stableford – Wednesday, March 19
TEN entered the event, with Jean Youl winning with 37 points ahead of L. Thynne (36), Jill Marshall (35) and Megan Taylor (34).
The nearest the pin, on the 9th hole, was won by Michelle Dillon.
R & R Stableford – Thursday, March 20
After such a long period without any rain, it was a welcome sight over the course this afternoon, with the field shrinking from 24 to just 12 at tee-off time.
The winner was Gavin Teasdale with 35, followed by D. Meehan with 34 on a countback, with the nearest the pins won by J. Hewitt (3rd) and R. Fabry (5th).
Stableford – Saturday, March 22
On a beautiful day for golf, 34 members and guests played a Stableford competition.
The ladies winner was Mabel Spitty (4) with 36 points, while the men’s winner was Jack Hewitt with 39 points.
Others in the ball pool were J. Ackland, G. Wyte and L. Hadfield (38 points), A. Spitty (37 points), K. Chase and P. Hatton (36 points).
Andrew, playing off -6, scored an equal course record of 64 for the 5th time and also had an eagle on the 14th.
Nearest the pins went to A. Spitty (3rd and 9th), J. Hewitt (5th), G. Teasdale (13th) and K. Chase (16th).
VETERANS
A GOOD turnout at Kerang on Tuesday, March 18, for the veterans event, with 32 ladies and men enjoying the course which was in great condition. Thanks also to the ladies who provided lunch.
The AGM was held after golf with Fred O’Brien returned as president, Graham Wyte as captain and a new secretary in Lisa Zanker taking over from Ray Henshall.
Ladies A grade winner was Shirley Jenner with 33 points ahead of Jean Youl, also on 33 points.
The B grade winner, with 33 points, was Lorraine Bray ahead of Lorraine Howard with 29 points, while the ball pool went to Marg Moore, Eileen Willox and Marg Learmonth.
The men’s A Grade winner was Graham Wyte with 36 points ahead of Terry Turvey with 34 points, while the men’s B grade winner was Graeme Bray with 34 points from Frank Cianci with 31 points.
The ball pool went to Graeme Brierley, Jack Hewitt and Rob Male, while the nearest the pins went to Marg Learmonth (3rd, 5th and 9th), Shirley Jenner (13th) and Lorraine Bray (16th).
The men’s nearest the pins were won by John Manser (3rd and 16th) Rick McKenzie (5th), Terry Turvey (9th) and Graham Wyte (13th).
The pen awards went to incoming secretary Lisa and outgoing secretary Ray.
The next veterans event will be held at Barham on Tuesday, April 15, with a 9am assembly ready for a 9.30am start.
