A FREE barista-made coffee and either a sausage or piece of fish awaits motorists stopping at Kerang today or tomorrow.
Atkinson Park, located beside the Murray Valley Highway, is one of more than 30 Driver Reviver sites operating during the Easter long weekend, with the Lions Club of Kerang and the town’s State Emergency Service unit uniting for local efforts.
Following last year’s selection as a Pit Stop site, the park will again feature numerous attractions to ensure travellers take advantage of a 15-minute break.
“The organisers of the initiative said you could not have a better spot for a reviver site,” Lions Club of Kerang Driver Reviver co-ordinator, Faye Burton said.
“The location is next to the highway and accessible by service road. It has toilets, a place to sit and a playground for the kids.”
Visitors to the park will be able to grab a free barista-made coffee between 2pm and 10pm today, as well as from 10am to 1pm tomorrow.
Lions Club members will be running their popular barbecue today and serving grilled fish and coleslaw tomorrow, all available via a gold coin donation to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
“Last year we raised $1000, so we hope to reach the same mark or more this year,” Ms Burton said.
Other attractions running today and tomorrow include a handball target, giant Jenga game and a photo stand.
