Reviver site to expand

KERANG will become a key stopover for people travelling throughout north-western Victoria for the Easter long weekend.

The town’s Driver Reviver site has been classified as one of the Transport Accident Commission’s Pitstop locations on Thursday, April 14 and Good Friday, April 15.

The classification means the TAC will work with the Lions Club of Kerang to provide food, drink and activities for motorists travelling through the area.

“This announcement is really big for Kerang as there is no Driver Reviver site between the town and Mildura,” Lions Club of Kerang member, Faye Burton said.

“On average, during the Easter period we would serve around 300 to 400 cups of tea and coffee, with some cars having three to four people in them.”

The site, located at Atkinson Park, will enable motorist to stop and have a free barista-made coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy a free sausage or hamburger whilst children take part in a number of activities.

Attractions to be placed on-site include a handball game, giant Jenga, a space where children can work on their artistic talents and a photo booth.

“Atkinson Park is the ideal spot for the site, as children love the adventure playground and there are plenty of toilets nearby,” Ms Burton said.

The site will be open from 2pm to 10pm on the Thursday, as well as from 10am to 1pm on Good Friday.

Lions Club of Kerang members will also be collecting funds on-site for the 2017 Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

“If you feel like a barista-made coffee or a barbecue meal, come on down and visit us,” Ms Burton said.
