Unprovoked attack

A MAN will be quizzed by police after allegedly verbally and physically abusing a man in an unprovoked attack in Kerang last month.

A male victim was walking on Kerang-Koondrook Road, near the intersection of Fitzroy Street, about 4pm on June 25, when he approached by another man who he had seen before.

Police said this male verbally abused and pushed the victim for no apparent reason.

The offender has been identified and will be arrested and interviewed by police.

Grenades missing

POLICE are investigating the alleged theft of two made-safe hand grenades from a Kerang address.

Police believe the items were stolen from an Albert Street address some time between June 1 and 19.

Scrap metal taken

A DRUM containing scrap metal was allegedly stolen from a Kerang business.

The metal was allegedly taken from the yard on the the corner of Scoresby and Albert street sometime between June 20 and 21.

The metal was valued at about $600.

Vehicle alight, damaged

A VEHICLE was found alight in Wandella on June 22.

Kerang police said a white Mitsubishi Triton ute was left on the side of Quambatook-Kerang Road about 3.30pm.

“It appears this vehicle was deliberately set alight,” police said.

“Fuel cap missing and strong odour of accelerant at scene. The vehicle is destroyed.”

Police are talking to witnesses.

Taxi fare deception

A WOMAN will face questioning after alleged deceptive behaviour.

A taxi driver transported a woman to a Grigg Road, Koondrook address on June 25.

The fare was $176, but at the final address she only paid $100 and said she would return “in a moment” to pay the remainder. She failed to do so.

The female has been identified and will be interviewed by police.

Quality lock prevents theft

A QUALITY steel lock has helped prevent alleged thieves from stealing items from a shipping container.

Police believe offender or offenders attended at address at Lake Charm-Quambatook Road some time between June 16 and 19 and attempted to gain entry to a shipping container.

A good quality stainless steel lock was in place that assisted in keeping offender/s out.
