Parties to mark year’s end

CELEBRATIONS will be held throughout the district on Sunday to mark the end of 2017 and herald in 2018.

Cohuna and Kerang will host the area’s largest New Year’s Eve celebrations, with event also occurring at Koondrook.

Kerang’s Party in the Park will be held for a third consecutive year at Atkinson Park, with celebrations beginning at 6pm.

Numerous events will occur throughout the evening, including the Rotary Club of Kerang train rides, a jumping castle, face painting, spinning wheel and oversized games.

People will be able to explore vintage vehicles on display, whilst numerous glow products will be available to purchase.

Endangered Species will take to the stage at 8pm, with two fireworks displays planned – one at the family-friendly time of 9pm and the second at 12 midnight.

• FIREWORKS will also be a highlight of Cohuna’s traditional New Year’s Eve party, occurring at Garden Park from 6pm.

The Hitmen and Rachael Warren will perform throughout the night, with numerous local traders to oversee street food vendors during the evening.

People will also be able to purchase glow products, with children able to get their faces painted.

As in previous years, vantage points along Gunbower Creek will be claimed early leading into dusk, with crowd numbers to increase prior to the 12 midnight fireworks display.

• J.R. WILLIAMS will headline festivities at Koondrook, which begin at 6.30pm.

Celebrations at Apex Park include free children’s activities, including a jumping castle, train rides, temporary tattoos and snow cones.

Koondrook Tennis Club members will be busy throughout the evening cooking hamburgers and sausages, whilst those in attendance can win prizes thanks to the popular Barham-Koondrook Lions Club spinning wheel.
