Form sides to meet

LAST season’s Northern District Cricket Association A Grade grand finalists will meet tomorrow at Gunbower, with the winner to remain as the only undefeated side after three rounds.

Defending premiers, Leitchville/Gunbower will host Wandella, two weeks after last taking to the field.

The hosts were too strong for Nondies back in round one, with the team’s middle order – led by James Keath, Jason Keath and Brad Windridge – leading the way.

Sam Colvin will be a key bowling option for Kurt Brereton to rely on, with Windridge and the Keaths also able to claim wickets late in the innings.

The Bombers have show in their past two games they have numerous match-winning options.

Captain, Isaac Hogan led the way with the bat in round one and the ball last weekend, whilst Greg Dickson and Rohan Oliver were pivotal in last weekend’s win.

Leitchville/Gunbower has won its past three games against Wandella, with the Bombers last prevailing back in January.

In tomorrow’s other match, two teams that have spent the past two seasons battling for fourth spot on the ladder will meet at Koondrook.

Barham/Koondrook and Cohuna United will both look to record their first win of the season.

The border side pushed Wandella last weekend, with Corey Collins and Garry Lolicato being dangerous with the ball, whilst Ian Mathers and Ashley Burke stood out with the bat in United’s loss to Nondies.

United won the first encounter between the sides in season 2016/17, with Bahram/Koondrook prevailing in the next three matches.

New leaders emerging

FOUR teams will look to move to the top of the NDCA B Grade ladder tomorrow, with competition leaders, Nondies having the bye.

The match of the round will be at Barham, where round two winners, Barham/Koondrook take on Kerang Fairley Town.

The border side was too strong for defending premiers, Wandella last weekend, with the Kerang-based team defeating Cohuna United.

Round one winners, Leitchville/Gunbower will take on Cohuna United at the Cohuna Recreation Reserve following a swap of venues, with United still looking for its first win of the season.

Meanwhile, the Bombers take on fellow Wandella side, the Warriors, at Riverside Park, with the defending premiers still searching for their first win of the season.

Second round for juniors

ROUND two of junior competition begins tomorrow, with the rematch of last season’s semi-final between Wandella and Nondies the under 17s match of the round.

Other under 17 encounters see Barham/Koondrook play Cohuna United at Koondrook and Scriptors travel to Gunbower to take on Leitchville/Gunbower.

In the under 14s, Boort-Yando will play its first match of the season, travelling to Cohuna to take on Nondies.

Opening round winners, Leitchville/Gunbower and Barham/Koondrook will meet at Leitchville, with Kerang Fairley Town and Cohuna United looking for their first win of the season.
