Lucky ticket sold

A GROUP of Kerang business owners still cannot believe they have helped change the lives of a lotto winner.

NewsXpress Kerang sold one of nine tickets that claimed $207,714.12 in prizes during last Saturday’s Tattslotto draw.

Although Tattslotto are still working to contact the registered winning ticket holder, patron numbers increased throughout the week as residents checked to see if they had the winning ticket.

“There’s a high chance it was a local, but there is also a good chance it was someone travelling through Kerang,” NewsXpress Kerang co-owner, Steve Holdstock said.

“I hope the money goes to someone who really needs it to give them a kick-on in life.”

The business found out on Monday morning it had sold one of the winning tickets.

“Normally Mandy (Holdstock, Steve’s wife) opens up, but I came in on Monday and saw on the screen the major prize had gone off,” Mr Holdstock.

“I looked at the list of stores that had sold winning tickets and ours was on there.”

It is the highest prizewinning ticket to be sold at the business since the Holdstocks took over five years ago, eclipsing the division two Powerball winning ticket sold two months after the couple took over the business.

“There is a mentality now that we are a bit of a lucky store,” Mr Holdstock said.
