Kerang South celebrates big week

THE theme for this year’s Education Week coincided with the opening of the new STEM and administration building at Kerang South Primary School, which staff and students moved into at the beginning of term.

The school decided to incorporate into the week a school open day and the Biggest Morning Tea.

Kerang South principal Lyn Veall said the theme of this year’s education week was ‘Step into STEM’, which coincided nicely with the opening of the new STEM and administration building which staff and students moved into at the beginning of term.

“Education Week is a celebration of the work the kids are doing here and a chance to showcase our school,” Ms Veall said.

“It is a really special day: that is why we invite all their families, friends and people who have a past connection to the school.

“We have always been very proud of our school here.

“I’m a little biased as I have been here for a very long time and I love this school.

“The new building will give the kids what they deserve – all kids should have a modern school with modern facilities.”

Mason and Jye Thorne couldn’t wait to take mum Jenni to Mason’s classroom to meet the class mascot, Ruby the spiny leaf insect.

Ms Thorne said she was excited to finally meet Ruby, which had been the topic of many discussions around the kitchen table.

“It is really lovely to be able to have a day and see the kids at school – I’m normally working,” Ms Thorne said.

“I haven’t been in the classrooms for a long time so it is good to be able to see their projects and see all the kids in their beautiful new uniforms.”

Visitors were also entertained by the Prep students singing.
