CONSTRUCTION of a $400 million battery energy storage system near Kerang is underway as part of the State Government’s commitment to establishing a renewable energy zone in the Murray River region.

The dual purpose system system will have the potential to power 350,000 homes for two hours through the excess renewable energy it stores, while also stabilising the grid.
