VICTORIAN children were back in class last week, some of them for the first time, as they started out on their educational journey.

At Kerang South Primary School, 16 preps were among 121 students who started on Thursday.

Principal Lyn Veall said there were seven new families on the books.

Ms Veall said the kids were excited to be starting and staff were delighted to welcome families in again.
