IN just her second season at AFLW level, Kerang boundary umpire Melissa Sambrooks has won the 2023 AFLW Umpiring Rising Star award.

Sambrooks started umpiring in Kerang at the age of 12, before in 2016 she decided to make the move to Melbourne to pursue a career umpiring at an elite level.
