IT was mentioned in the Komment back in June 2024 that there is no pedestrian crossing in Wellington Street between Victoria Street and Nolan Street.
One concerned local citizen has recently mentioned to Kurl that no action has been taken.
Perfect spot would be directly next to the lovely old pillar box, as the crossing would be from the footpath, through the garden area then straight across to Bi-Rite.
There is already a concrete spot in the garden about the exact spot where the crossing should go.
I’m sure the Shire is all over this. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so we can’t expect Kerang to be.

THE Champions Trophy had a few quirks in the draw, which saw India play all its matches in Dubai at the same venue, in the same clubrooms on the same wicket. Political tensions between India and Pakistan have facilitated this.
Keep in mind that you could be forgiven for thinking that it is all designed to get India a cricket trophy. Not too far from the mark.

DALE Hancock parked in Victoria Street as I was walking past so I said a quick “Congrats to the Premiership captain”, referencing the Kerang Bowling Club winning the inaugural Northern Valley Premier League Grand Final.
He turned around as quick as a flash with a giant grin on his face. Yep, pretty proud of his team you’d think, and happy to take as much glory as possible.
Well done on a great team effort, with all three rinks up.

SOME great rivalry in local sport.
In the NV League (Bowls) Kerang d Cohuna Golf, in the ND Playing Area Div 1 Cohuna d Barham. In Div 2, Kerang Golf d Cohuna Golf, Div 3 saw Wakool d Kerang Golf.
In the ND Lawn Tennis Association Div 1 Cohuna d Gunny, Div 2 Gunny d Moulamein and the Junior winners were Murrabit over Barham Navy
Must say that the name Northern District Playing Area doesn’t roll off the tongue all that well, but then I suppose NDPA isn’t much different to NDBA. A rose by any other name.

TREVOR Dawson had his horse Community Art running in the Boort Trots on March 2. Connections said that if it hit the lead, no one will catch it.
Well, it did win by a half neck, making its second win on the trot following a victory at Cranbourne in February.
The driver was George Chamouras, who has a bit of a local connection with the former owners of one of the Kerang cafes from back in the day.
Community Art is trained by Corey Bell from Kilmore.

JOSH Treacy has been placed in the leadership group for the Fremantle Dockers. The former Cohuna local will be a great leader. Think he could be in for a big year.

COHUNA’S Nondies Cricket Club, playing in the Goulburn Murray League over in Echuca would love to have had Josh Treacy playing at the club this season. He would have added a bit of quality to their batting list, but I think he is a bit busy with the footy at the moment.

SAW Mark Gardiner out and about last Wednesday with the rest of his family. and they were all celebrating the birthday of their mum Dawn.
The Wisharts (Gary and Kaye), Tascas (Tony and Vicki) and Challises (Paul and Kerrie) were all there along with Mark and Debbie to celebrate the 84th birthday (coz 84 is the new 94).
Hope that Mrs Dawn Gardiner had a lovely evening.

DES Shelley and his mates that have their weekly coffee get-together over at Cohuna were discussing where the boxing ring was that used to be used for matches in Cohuna and Kerang way back when.
For some reason Des has an idea it could be under the stage at the Cohuna Memorial Hall, but who would know?
Des gets together with Ron Stanton, Max Fehring, Keith Link and Dusty Martin to solve the problems of the world, but they can’t find the boxing ring.
Des has done another pre-season with the umpires but has decided age has caught up with him. All the best to Des and this crew.

WAS backing Barham Koondrook to defeat Wandella in the Swan Hill District Cricket Association’s semi final at Barham on the weekend.
The BK lads have one of the best bowling attacks in the comp and their batting has been consistent all year.
Wandella on the other hand haven’t hit their straps with bat or ball apart from a few, rare standout performances, but they have done well to make the finals.
Clearly, one of them has advanced.
